A base lacquer is applied to any substrate first to provide adhesion for the aluminium and also give the components a mirror like gloss. After metalizing, a clear or tinted top coat is applied to provide durability and a variety of different colours.
The process is typically used to produce bright silver, gold or brass finishes, although other colours can be produced including satin and antique finishes. Vacuum metalizing can be used in a variety of different substrates including most plastics and non-porous materials.
Aluminium Vacuum Deposition is a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to chrome plating.
